Requirements
The regulations governing the issuance of a firearms permit specify a number of conditions. To obtain a firearms permit, you must meet the following requirements:
- be at least 21 years old (or 18 years old—in certain cases),
- have a permanent residence in Poland,
- have a medical and psychological evaluation certifying their ability to handle a weapon,
- not be addicted to alcohol or psychoactive substances,
- not have been convicted of a crime by a final court judgment.
Types of Permits
If you want your application for a firearms permit to be approved, it must include all the required documentation. In addition, you’ll have to take a written and practical exam to demonstrate your knowledge of the law and your ability to handle a firearm. There are also costs involved—the price of a firearm permit ranges from a few hundred to even several thousand zlotys. Depending on the type of firearm, you can apply for:
- a firearms permit for collection purposes,
- a firearms permit for sporting purposes,
- a firearms permit for hunting purposes,
- a firearms permit for the protection of persons and property.
